The Nursing Education and Nursing Practice Committee is two-fold in its purpose.

The Committee considers issues pertinent to nursing practice at RGH and serves in an advisory capacity to the Chief Nursing Officer.

The Committee also supports the education of students at the Isabella Graham Hart School of Practical Nursing and works closely with the Program Administrator and the System VP of Quality, Safety & Innovation.  RGHA funds provide support for student scholarships, educational equipment and other educational needs. RGHA sponsors the graduation ceremonies and receptions for each graduating class.

The school was founded in 1964 and named in honor of Isabella Graham Hart, a member of the Board of Lady Managers in 1886 (now RGHA) and an outstanding benefactress of RGH.  Upon her death in 1898, her husband, James C. Hart, established an endowment and donated funds for the construction of the Isabella Graham Hart Nurses’ Home to commemorate her devotion to the Hospital.  A generous bequest from James C. Hart upon his death in 1905, together with the Nurses’ Home endowment, continues to support the Isabella Graham Hart School of Practical Nursing.
